ICT course on Power Electronics for Smart Grid and Renewable Energy Control, May 15-19, 2017
India has been progressing well on the path of developing solar generation, with an ambitious target of achieving 100 GW by 2022. DC and AC generation systems, along with emerging stand alone loads, is likely to offer better technical efficiency, economic benefits, and opportunity to provide energy sufficiency to the off-grid consumers. The growth of renewable power conversion systems is likely to increase in both grid connected and off-grid systems, and additionally supporting the growth of energy storage systems and electric vehicles. With these developments happening, it is imperative to explore and understand the underlying changes for the same, and the future it holds. These relates to evolution happening in power electronic semiconductor technology, deployment of DC& AC grid components such as evolving power converters technologies, solar generation systems and battery storage.
MNIT Jaipur offers a short term course that delves on multiple aspects of Smart Grids, both at the component level as well as the system level. It intends to fulfill the existing knowledge gap, by developing on the fundamentals of power electronics, microgrids, demand response, Distributed energy sources, , A/C to D/C converter topologies, storage systems, electric vehicles, hybrid systems. It is hoped that this STC will help facilitate meaningful discussions and a good exposure to cutting edge problems for further research and development.
The program is targeted towards Faculty Members from technical institutions, Industry Professionals & Consultants, Researchers & Students.
There will lab sessions giving hands on experience in MATLAB. In addition, Hardware development techniques will be discussed. The exposure of programming could be very helpful for researchers, M.Tech. and Ph.D. students involved in various branches of engineering.
